Unfortunately, “root canal” is a term that causes a lot of fear and anxiety, thanks to its portrayal in popular culture, but the truth is that the benefits of the procedure and advances in dental technology have made the procedure much more comfortable. In most cases, local anesthetics and proper pain medication allow the procedure to be performed with no pain. Most importantly, the procedure will relieve you from pain caused by the infection, allowing you to once again enjoy all the foods you love without any pain from heat, cold, or biting too hard. To learn more about whether a root canal is right for you, just give us a call.
With modern local anesthetic, most patients say a root canal feels similar to getting a filling. The procedure actually relieves the pain caused by the infection — most people feel dramatically better within a day or two. If dental visits make you anxious, tell us — our dentists are experienced with nervous patients, and we’ll pace the visit around your comfort.
Endodontics is also known as a root canal. A root canal is a procedure done by a licensed professional to treat teeth that have been damaged/decayed as a result of bacteria or dental trauma. One of our experts will remove the damaged and decayed portion of the tooth. After the tooth has been cleaned from all of the damaged tissue, we will fill the tooth with a biocompatible material to maintain the strength of the tooth. By filling the tooth with this material, it will restore the tooth to its full potential and preserve your beautiful smile.
Although a root canal is very similar to a traditional dental filling, there are some differences. At Advanced Dental we have highly trained professionals to determine what dental work each patient needs. A root canal is considered more thorough than a traditionally filling because there is more damage done to your tooth. Advanced Dental uses specialized tools to determine which option would best benefit the tooth and the patient. During the process of a root canal, your dentist will use the proper tools to open the tooth up and access the dental pulp. Once the damage of the tooth is found it will be carefully removed from the tooth and dental pulp. Root canals are a common procedure done in our Louisville office. At Advanced Dental we want our patients to be as relaxed as possible during their root canal procedure. We’ll use anesthetics and pain management to ensure you’re comfortable during and after the procedure.
At Advanced Dental Center, root canal treatment starts at $709 for patients without insurance — and with insurance, your out-of-pocket can be as low as $0 depending on your plan. Cost varies by tooth: front teeth have a single canal, while molars have more and take longer. Most insurance plans cover a portion of root canal treatment, and flexible payment plans plus Cherry financing are available. If a protective crown is recommended afterward, we’ll include it in your written treatment plan.
Usually one or two visits of 60–90 minutes, depending on the tooth. Many root canals at ADC are completed in a single appointment.
Often, yes — especially for molars, which take the most chewing force. A crown protects the treated tooth long-term, and our Preston Highway office offers CEREC same-day crowns, so it can often be placed without a weeks-long wait.
